LaLiga and sports management company India On Track (IOT) have announced the launch of LaLiga Football School in Delhi.

LaLiga Football Schools forms a part of Spanish top division football league’s grassroots football development programme to promote and contribute towards the growth of the sport in India.

The Delhi chapter of the LaLiga Football Schools was inaugurated by Robert Pires, a LaLiga ambassador and a football icon. Pires has played for football clubs across the globe including FC Goa, Aston Villa, Villarreal, Arsenal, Marseille and Metz before retiring in 2015. The 44-year-old is currently coaching in Arsenal.

LaLiga Football Schools, in India in partnership with India On Track (IOT), are being launched across the country, in cities including Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Kochi, Kolkata and the national capital. LaLiga aims to have over 30 schools, training over 3000 nationwide by the turn of the year.

The intensive training programme will be overseen by Technical Director, Javier Cabrera, who is a UEFA PRO Licensed Football Coach with wide experience of working with professional football clubs and academies. He is a former FC Barcelona Escola Coach in Virginia State, USA and has spent more than 13 years coaching in countries like Spain, India, and USA.

Students from age group of 6 to 18 years will be the focus for the programme, which will be delivered using LaLiga’s technical curriculum and detailed methodology.

Robert Pires, LaLiga Ambassador said, “LaLiga Football Schools is an excellent initiative to help develop the game in India.
