Banned Twitch streamer PhantomL0rd won the lawsuit against Twitch. The amazon-owned streaming platform, Twitch is one of the top streaming platforms across the world. A large number of streamers and content creators make the content and stream on the platform. The site is very strict with its streaming rules and t&c where they regularly banning the streamers who break policies.

What was the matter of the Lawsuit?

There are multiple allegations against the platform for banning the streamers without reason or false policy break. James ‘PhantomL0rd’ Vargas got banned from the platform for the CS GO gambling stream in 2016. Streamer claimed that he didn’t break any rules or policies in streams. On the other hand, Twitch stated that he was misleading the viewers to gambling in Counter Strike: Global Offensive.

James denied all the allegations against him and filed a lawsuit against Twitch, for getting $35 million in damages for banning him from the platform. The court battle between streamer and platform began back in 2019.

PhantomL0rd announced his win against the platform from his Twitter account. He posted,

COUNTS!!!!! Twitch LOST EVERYTHING, including the fraud claim against me for the CSGO Shuffle allegations!!! This is a win for ALL streamers! Twitch can’t bully, lie & treat streamers unfairly the way they have for years!!!”

During the proceedings of the lawsuit, lawyers for Twitch tried to set the maximum amount of money for damage at $50,000. But the court denied putting a limit on the amount for the damage. At last, PhantomL0rd won the lawsuit against Twitch where he received $20,720.34 in total damages. However, the amount is very less than what he wished for. PhantomL0rd was a popular streamer at the time of the ban. He has a record of 143,000 concurrent viewers on his Twitch stream.

However, Twitch didn’t release any statement yet on this verdict. It is still unknown if they are considering things that didn’t work in their favor.
