French Open 2020 : Can anyone stop Rafael Nadal winning his 13th French Open ?
Rafael Nadal has his eyes on the prize in Paris. If Nadal manages to claim a 13th French Open championship, he would also collect his 20th Grand Slam title overall, tying Roger Federer’s record for most Grand Slam titles.
Simona Halep of Romania missed the US Open due to Covid-19 but will start as top seed in the French Open 2020. Halep has appeared in three of past six French Open finals. Her Italian Open triumph Monday gave her nine career titles on clay, tied with Venus Williams for second-most among active women.
Serena Williams will once again attempt to win her record equalling 24th Grand Slam. Williams can never be discounted as she launches another bid for a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam singles crown, this time as a 39-year-old. But Roland Garros is the American’s least successful major despite her wins in 2002, 2013 and 2015. Williams withdrew from last week’s Rome Open with an Achilles strain, meaning she has not played on clay this year. Her draw won’t offer any freebies either, with a tough test in virtually every round.
