French Open 2021: 5 historic records that can be created at Roland Garros 2021-The highly-anticipated French Open 2021 is all set to kick off on May 30. The two-week-long tournament will witness top tennis stars in action. They are Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, and defending champion Iga Swiatek. History is on the line in Paris as players chase new records/ milestones at Roland Garros 2021. As another Grand Slam is at stake, here are some records, milestones that could be achieved over the next two weeks in the French Open. Check out:

All-time Grand slam record (ATP)

Two top tennis superstars Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will be aiming to go past each other. The duo are currently stranded with 20 each Grand Slams. The ‘King of Clay’ Nadal is chasing record 14th French Open title while ‘GOAT’ Federer has won only one French Open title. The stakes are high for Nadal who is coming on the back of an Italian Open title victory over World No. 1 Novak Djokovic.

Iga Swiatek

Defending champion Iga Swiatek will be looking to repeat her heroics in French Open 2021. Since 2008, no women player has defended the title at Roland Garros. Defending a title in women’s tennis is not a common feat among women’s singles of late. Serena Williams had defended the Wimbledon title in 2016.

Djokovic, Federer eye to double up

Both Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer can double up their career Grand Slam with a win in French Open 2021. The duo have won more than one title in other Grand Slams,  another victory at Roland Garros will them the first to achieve the landmark. Djokovic, who looks ahead of Swiss legend at the moment, recently surpassed Federer’s record of most weeks spent as World No.1.  And, he will eye to overtake Federer with the French Open 2021 title.

Serena Williams

Tennis legend Serena Williams will be chasing history in the French Open 2021. She is targeting an all-time record-equalling 24 Grand Slam singles titles. She is one short of Margaret Court’s mark. Since her return after maternity leave, the 39-year-old has taken part in four finals but has failed to reach the elusive number 24.

WTA top spot

Ashleigh Barty, 2019 French Open champion, will begin her 78th week as World No. 1 next week. She will have to defeat fend off Naomi Osaka if she wants to keep her top rankings after Roland Garros 2021. Osaka, who won the Australian Open 2021, can dethrone Barty if she reaches the finals of the French Open 2021.
