French Open 2021 Qualifiers: Greet Minnen thrash Ankita Raina in straight sets- Greet Minnen of Belgium defeated India’s Ankita Raina in straight sets in the second qualifier match of Roland Garros 2021 on Wednesday.
Ankita started the game on a positive note by winning the first game of the first set however Greet came back strong and won the next four games on the trot. Ankita could only manage to win one more game in the set before losing the set 6-2. In the second set 17th, seed Minnen was on top of her game and won the set 6-0.
India tennis player Ankita Raina will face off Greet Minnen of Belgium in her second qualifier match of Roland Garros 2021 on Wednesday. The 17th seed is expected to give a tough fight to Ankita who is coming on the back of a win in her opening match at Roland Garros 2021.

Raina is India’s No.1 professional tennis player and the only second player to win WTA-level title. She has also won 11 singles on ITF Circuit. It is notable that Ankita Raina had reached the third round of the qualifiers in the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year.
Minnen, on the other hand, has so far played in all four Grand Slams each but she did not feature in the year’s first grand slam. She had progressed to 2nd round of the Australian Open last year which is her best in majors.
Ankita Raina on Monday notched up a hard-fought win over higher-ranked Arina Rodionova in the first round of the women’s singles qualifiers at the French Open. The 28-year-old Indian, world-ranked 182, showed nerves of steel as she bounced back from a set down to beat Russian-born Australian Rodionova, ranked 168th, 3-6 6-1 6-4 in a thrilling rain-affected three-setter.
