French Open 2021: Serena Williams storms into the fourth round with a straight-sets win over Danielle Rose Collins- Tennis legend Serena Williams on Friday sailed into the fourth round of the French Open after defeating Danielle Rose Collins 6-4, 6-4. Her American counterpart gave her a tough fight but could not claim a single set. The match lasted just an hour and 25 minutes.

Nishikori had taken the first set 7-5 when the Swiss qualifier quit.

“Today it was very difficult, but I played well, stayed concentrated. I’m very happy,” the three-time Roland Garros winner told AFP.

Williams, seeking a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam singles title, but first since 2017, will play Kazakhstan’s 21st seed Elena Rybakina for a place in the quarter-finals.

The tennis legend has finally found her form at the French Open 2021. Serena Williams reached the third round after beating Irina-Camelia Begu 7-66 6-2 and Mihaela Buzarnescu 6-3 5-7 6-1. Even though she is quickly approaching the age of 40, Serena Williams’ overall game looks as strong and imposing as ever.
