French Open Quarterfinals: Alexander Zverev advances into semifinals, defeats Alejandro Davidovich Fokina- Sixth seed Alexander Zeverev has defeated Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the quarterfinals of the French Open to progress into the semifinals. He won the first match 6-4, 6-1 and 6-1, dropping just one point in the second and third set respectively.

Alexander Zverev will play the winner between Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas for a place in Sunday’s final.

Zverev will be aiming for his first grand slam title. It was his third quarterfinal appearance at Roland Garros. He faced an uphill task in the opening game against O Otte but since then he has improvised drastically to win the matches by dominating rivals such as R Safiullin, L Dere and Japan’s Kei Nishikori.
