Garena announced: Team Riot and Team TG will not be able to participate in the upcoming Free Fire World Series 2021: Garena Free Fire World Series 2021 is the biggest esports event of Free Fire which feature teams from all around the world. After winning the regional competition, Teams got qualified for FFWS 2021 where they will battle the other regional winners. But due to national travel restrictions, the teams from Bangladesh, “Team Riot” and Pakistan, “Team TG” will not be able to travel to Singapore to compete.
Earlier in March 2021, Garena unveils the esports plans for 2021 where they will host two seasons of FFWS. Last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Free Fire World Series got canceled and the continental series took place in America, EMEA, and Asia. This year Garena came with the Free Fire World Series with a massive prize pool of $2 million USD.
On 23rd April 2021, the Singapore government restricted visitors from India or who have a travel history of India from the last 14 days. Due to these restrictions, Indian teams, Galaxy Racer and Team Elite will not be allowed to play in the event.
On 30th April, a heart broking news came for the fans of Pakistan and Bangladesh. Team Riot (Bangladesh) and Team TG (Pakistan) will not be able to travel to Singapore to compete in the event.
Garena Free Fire posted, “On Friday (Apr 30) evening, the Singapore Government announced that All long-term pass holders and short-term visitors who have been in Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka within the last 14 days will no longer be allowed to enter or transit through Singapore, from 11.59 pm, 1 May. This decision to proceed with the World Series was a difficult one and was made after having explored all options to include them. We empathize and share the disappointment of both teams. We will award both Team Riot and Team TG a share of the prize pool – to recognize their efforts and achievement in qualifying for the World Series.”
