Geneva Open 2021: In one of the exciting matches of the Geneva Open, 20-time grand slam champion Roger Federer will take part in the second round fixture of the Switzerland showpiece event. He will be facing 35-year-old Pablo Andujar. The riveting content will take place at the Geneva Eaux-Vives Tennis Club on Tuesday. The Spanish has an amazing record, having featured in 35 finals, all in Clay court. He is expected to give a tough fight to Swiss Tennis Maestro.
Federer, on the other hand, will be playing his first match on clay after 2019 French Open. He is participating in his quest for his 21st grand slam title in the upcoming French Open where he has won just one title. He is currently equal with Spanish legend and ‘King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal. The latter has won as many 13 titles in French Open, including back to back titles in last 4 years.
Ahead of the match, Federer said, “I was happy that the knee didn’t feel any different from hard to clay, so I expect the same to go from clay to grass,” Federer told reporters on Monday as quoted by Reuters.
“Since ’98, since we have the grass in my schedule, I’ve never really had any major issues going between surfaces. I think that the tennis player is used to these switches but of course with an injury, there is always a little bit more concern, especially when you haven’t played as long as I have,” he added.
