Denis Shapovalov and Pablo Cuevas locked horns against each other in the semifinal of the Gonet Geneva Open for the 2nd time in their career. Ranked no. 15, the Canadian got to the semifinal after defeating Marco Cecchinato 6-74 7-5 6-1 and Laslo Djere 6-4 6-4. In the quarter, Denis had a good straight-sets win against Djere (6-4 6-4). During the match, Shapovalov scored 71 points vs Djere’s 62. Shapovalov was extremely aggressive to blast 32 winners.
On the other hand, ranked no. 102, Cuevas got to the semifinal after defeating Jakub Paul 6-3 4-6 6-3, Lorenzo Giustino 6-2 6-4, Reilly Opelka 7-65 6-2, Arthur Cazaux 6-2 6-4 and Grigor Dimitrov 7-63 6-3. In the quarter, The Uruguayan had a good straight-sets win against Dimitrov (7-63 6-3). During the match, Cuevas scored 71 points vs Dimitrov’s 59. Pablo was pretty aggressive to blast 38 winners.
