Gionee is going to be the most visible brand during IPL 10. The Chinese handset manufacturer is backing Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore as the title sponsor. Both the teams will support the brand logo on their team jersey front. The Gionee-KKR relationship enters into the third straight year.
Jio Digital will be connecting as many as seven teams this season. Kings XI Punjab will be the only missing link for the 4G mobile network. For the first time, a pan masala brand will be on display as a title sponsor. Shudh Plus has signed up with Gujarat Lions, who were ignored by Hero Cycles in favor of Kings XI Punjab.
United Breweries brand Kingfisher too is associated with seven teams. Gujarat Lions is the long exception. An association with the team based in a ‘dry’ state with zero market for any alcohol brand would have been of little value for the beer brand that will be advertising through surrogate bottled water brand Kingfisher Premium.
Elsewhere, Ultratech has cemented its relationship with reigning champions Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians stick with Videocon D2H, Delhi Daredevils stay cool with Daikin Airconditioners and Rising Pune Supergiants connect with Motorola mobile brand Moto.
The intensified race between the telephone handset manufacturers has also seen Vivo coming on board at the title sponsor for the 10th edition of the league. The brand has also launched a V5Plus Vivo IPL edition.
