ISL 2021: Mumbai City FC defender Amey Ranawade, who had to be taken off the field on Saturday in an ambulance during the final against ATK Mohun Bagan, is now in stable condition at a hospital in Goa. The Indian youngster is still kept under observation but could be released from the hospital on Sunday. Mumbai won the final 2-1 to lift their first ISL title.
Mumbai City shared an update on Ranawade from the hospital, saying he was doing well. “Amey Ranawade suffered a concussion during the first half of this evening’s match. He was given immediate medical treatment on the pitch and transferred directly to the hospital for a full assessment. We are very pleased to report that he is completely stable and his scan results were all normal. He is being kept under observation and all of us are wishing for a speedy recovery,” the club said in a statement on Amey Ranawade condition.
Ranawade, who had a breakout season in ISL 7, took an awkward fall after going for a tackle on ATK Mohun Bagan’s Subhasish Bose at the Fatorda Stadium. While Bose suffered no injury, Ranawade could not stand up following the collision. The medical staff rushed in and the ambulance was called in immediately.
As he was unable to get up, it gave a scare to the players and coaching staff of both sides. As the ambulance was brought in, the youngster looked disoriented and was immediately taken to the hospital.
However, looks like, it’s good news for the Islanders who pipped Bagan to do a double of winning the league winners’ shield and ISL 2021 title. Bipin Singh was Mumbai’s hero on Saturday. His 90th-minute goal helped seal the deal.
As for Amey Ranawade, the 23-year-old has been a constant presence in Mumbai City defence in ISL 2021. He has played 20 matches in the league this season, completing 1564 minutes, one of the highest amongst Indian youngsters.
