No secret. Football was Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s first love. Cricket came later. By default. Now one of the biggest cricket stars, Dhoni misses no opportunities to embrace his first love. An avid Manchester United fan, Dhoni has padded up to promote club’s fan academy in India – Gulf Fan Academy, a collaboration between Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd and the Manchester United football club.

The cricketing icon is roped in as #NumberOneFan of the academy, a part of a multi-rollout comprehensive campaign to highlight Gulf Oil’s association with Manchester United as the official global retail fuel and lubricant partner.

There simply cannot be a better face for the academy than Dhoni, for his strong connect with football and Manchester United. “We would like to specially thank the #NumberOneFan enrolled into the Gulf Fan academy Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who can be seen showcasing his passion and love for the Manchester United club,” says Mr. Ravi Chawla, CEO & MD, Gulf Oil Lubricants India Limited.

Dhoni will feature in the video doling out details and conversations that highlight his love for the club.

The Indian cricket team ex-captain also has a long association with Gulf Oil. In April this year, he has also donned the hat of the Gulf Oil India Chief Executive for a day. The flamboyant cricketer has been a brand ambassador for the Hinduja Group-owned oil company.

The Gulf Fan Academy will host a series of social media and on-ground contests to for ManU fan engagement. Thes top winners get a trip to Old Trafford, the Theatre of Dreams and home of Manchester United.

A highlight of the engagement campaign will also be an upcoming tour of Manchester United Legends in the country.
