Apollo Tyres has extended its association with football to the Hero India Super League. The Indian-origin multinational tyre brand has earlier signed deals with leading European football clubs.
Apollo Tyres has announced a partnership with the Indian Super League for the 2017-18 season. The tyre manufacturer will be an official partner of the country’s premier football league and will run match-day activations throughout the remaining three months of the ongoing season.
In November the tyre brand has become a principal sponsor of ISL outfit Chennaiyin FC and title sponsor of I-League team Minerva Punjab FC.
“We are looking at leveraging on the organically growing and fast adoption of football as a sport in India, and the Indian Super League is the best platform for that,” said Satish Sharma, the president of Apollo Tyres. “Football being the key element of our brand building strategy across different countries, we aim to work at the grassroots level of football.”
“Having strengthened club participation from eight to ten in the Hero Indian Super League this season, it is experiencing soaring viewership and we are committed to grassroots football,” added a Hero ISL spokesperson. “India is undergoing a football renaissance. We are extremely happy that we are seeing greater interest from corporates like Apollo Tyres committing to be part of the Indian football growth story.”
