All speculation around an anticipated revamp of the Royal Challengers Bangalore logo, name and branding have finally settled with a cosmetic change in the emblem. The theme, colors, and name remain unchanged.
Two days after Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore had removed all the posts and display pictures from all their social media pages, the United Breweries-owned team has revealed their new logo, which primarily has a readjustment of the basic elements with the same color and theme.
RCB had also fanned speculation about a change in the team’s name as ‘Bangalore’ was dropped as a suffix from the name Royal Challengers on the team’s twitter handle. But the name stays as Royal Challengers Bangalore in the new logo. It was assumed that the team may be rechristened as Royal Challengers Bengaluru in synch with the new name of its city of origin.
The new logo formally unveiled today (Friday) is bolder with a red backdrop, golden lion and team’s name in black. The lion icon is bigger in size than earlier, while initials ‘RC’ in the middle of the earlier logo have been dropped.
The club said the new logo design, which features a lion, “embodies the bold and fearless attitude” of the side, adds PTI.
Speaking on the launch of the new visual identity, Sanjeev Churiwala, Chairman of Royal Challengers Bangalore, said, “The elements in the logo is a commitment to continuously entertain and engage with fans who are the force behind Royal Challengers Bangalore.
“We believe a change in identity for the club was necessary to effectively live and breathe this vision and celebrate the passion for cricket and playing bold,” he added.
RCB took to their social media and shared a video. They captioned it, “THIS IS IT. The moment you’ve been waiting for. New Decade, New RCB, New Logo! #PlayBold”.

While the logo has been released of the RCB social media handles, the website is still under construction and is expected to be launched soon.
In addition to the team logo, the United Spirits owned franchise also unveiled its IPL 2020 team jersey. The franchise took to their social media and shared the team jersey with the fans. They captioned it, “Presenting to you, the RCB Jersey design for Vivo IPL 2020. We are excited to welcome @muthootpappachangroup as our title sponsor. #PlayBold #NewDecadeNewRCB.”
In yet another major development on the commercial front, the RCB had announced a three-year deal with Muthoot Finance as the team’s title sponsor.
