ICC T20WC: Cricket South Africa on Tuesday announced that AB de Villiers has decided to not come out of retirement for the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled in October in India. “Discussions with AB de Villiers have concluded with the batsman deciding once and for all, that HIS RETIREMENT WILL REMAIN FINAL,” the statement read.
The 37-year-old had retired from international cricket in 2018 but said in April last year he would consider a comeback at the T20 World Cup if it was delayed by a year to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re lined up to have a chat sometime during the IPL. But yes, we’ve been talking about it already,” De Villiers said. However, he has now decided to stay in retirement.

Although the possibility of his return has been ruled out, De Villiers continues to impress fans with his 360-degree shots in the Indian Premier League. The South African batter is part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad.
In IPL 2021, he along with Glenn Maxwell was in red hot form. ‘ABD’ as he is commonly known as scored an impressive 207 runs in seven-game at a strike rate and average of 164.28 and 51.75 respectively.
Meanwhile, CSA announced the Proteas men’s tour to West Indies. It will be the South Africans’ first bilateral tour to the Caribbean since 2010, followed by a tri-series in 2016 that also featured Australia.
