The All-India Junior Selection Committee has picked India’s squad for the upcoming U-19 Cricket World Cup 2020 to be contested in South Africa from January 17 to February 9 next year.

The 13th edition of the World Cup will feature 16 teams, split into four groups. India are placed in Group A with first-time qualifier Japan, New Zealand and Sri Lanka. The top two teams from each group will then qualify for the Super League stage, BCCI has stated in a Press release.

India are the most successful team having won four titles till date, including in 2018, when they beat Australia by eight wickets in the final and remained unbeaten in the tournament.

An India U19 team will also travel to South Africa for three one-day matches against the followed by a quadrangular series featuring Zimbabwe U19 and New Zealand U19, besides the hosts and the Indian colts.

A separate team, also to be led by Garg, has been named for the pre-U-19 World Cup games in South Africa. In addition to the Under-19 World Cup-bound 14-member squad, idyadhar Patil (KSCA) and CTL Rakshan (Hyderabad CA) have been named for the bilateral and quadrangular series in South Africa.
