ICC WTC Final: Dinesh Karthik all set for commentary stint in IND vs NZ WTC final – India cricketer and former captain for Kolkata Knight Riders Dinesh Karthik is all set for a new role. The wicketkeeper-batsman will be a commentator for the ICC World Test Championship final where Virat Kohli’s India will take on Kane Williamson’s New Zealand in Southampton from June 18-22.

After joining the Sky Sports commentary panel for the India-England series and already being finalised for the England & Wales Cricket Board’s much-hyped upcoming league, The Hundred, Karthik will now be seen in the commentary panel of the World Test Championship Final too.

ICC WTC Final “I was a bit fortunate the way it (commentary stint) came to me. I think I can bring to the table things like technique and strategy. I have played with the cricketers in both teams, know the way they think and will try to get into their heads,” Karthik told The Hindu.

ICC WTC Final: Karthik also predicted that Team India have a chance of winning the final if Indian batsmen get strong partnerships going. He believes that this Indian bowling attack can take 20 wickets.

“We have a potent pace attack. And if we can build partnerships, I see no reason why we cannot win,” he said.

ICC WTC Final: Karthik also said that he can make comeback into the Indian Team as he has the passion. Karthik last played an international match in July 2019 (vs NZ in Manchester).

“The passion is still there. The prospect of playing for the country again in white-ball cricket is what keeps me going. We live in an era where fitness parameters are set for a cricketer. You have to clear those fitness tests to be picked on the Indian team. So, if you are fit, where is the question of age,” he added.

ICC WTC Final: Meanwhile, The Indian men’s and women’s team landed in London on Thursday and then headed to the Ageas Bowl in Southampton to start their quarantine. And the players are looking forward to finishing off their hard quarantine and then start training. While the men’s team will gear up for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand, the women’s team will take on the English team in a one-off Test before playing ODIs and T20Is.
