ICC WTC Final, IND vs NZ: Exactly one month left for the ICC WTC Final and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson can’t keep calm about his excitement about the inaugural final which will be held in Southampton, England from June 18. However, the fact that the final will be against Virat Kohli-led Team India, excites him the most. Williamson believes playing India is a “fantastic challenge” and one that he enjoys.

“Whenever you play India, it’s a fantastic challenge and it’s really exciting to be playing them. I think we saw that the context of the Test Championship brought in real excitement. Certainly, in Kiwi, we saw declarations and games getting really tight. Certainly, the India-Australia series and our series here against Pakistan as well as the results had to be fought hard to risk and win it which is great. It’s really exciting to be involved in the final and obviously to win it would be that much better,” Kane Williamson said.

ICC WTC Final, IND vs NZ: Kane Williamson-led New Zealand have already arrived in the UK for a Test series against England. The two Test matches will give NZ a competitive edge over Virat Kohli’s India, who will arrive in the UK on June 3 and will be quarantined for 10 days.

That leaves India with five days’ time to prepare for the finale. By then, New Zealand would have suited themselves to English conditions with the two-match Test series against England. However, Neil Wagner, ace NZ pacer doesn’t want to consider that as an advantage. He believes India has enough firepower in pace attack to trouble any opponent in any conditions.

ICC WTC Final, IND vs NZ: “There are a lot of quality bowlers on the shelf. India has got a number of quality fast bowlers who can form anywhere around the world. We know we have to make it swing as early as when the sun comes out, I guess it is expected to be quite flat and nothing happens again,” Wagner said.

“So, we do know that there will be a little bit of all with all seasons in one. But conditions can change quite quickly and throughout the day. From being quite flat and nothing happening to all of a sudden swinging around. So, I guess control the controllable,” he added.
