ICC WTC Final – India vs New Zealand: On the verge of rare Test series Victory against England at their den, Kane Williamson & Co has sent a big warning to Virat Kohli’s Team India ahead of the ICC World Test Championship final, slated to begin on June 18 in Southampton. If Devon Conway has starred with the bat with an incredible run of form, Tim Southee, Neil Wagner, Matt Henry and Trent Boult have performed well with the ball – to ring alarm bells in the Indian camp

New Zealand is completely battle ready while India’s preparations for the WTC Finals will be just based on an intra-squad match. The four-day practice match is currently underway in Southampton before the ICC WTC Final.

ICC WTC Final – India vs New Zealand: Kane Williamson & Co sends Virat Kohli’s Team India big warning with 3 big performances:

The Devon Conway factor: The newest Kiwi star on the block, Devon Conway has been in red-hot form ahead of the ICC WTC Final. Since making debut against West Indies in T20Is in November, 2020, the left-hander has averaged 59.12 in T20Is, 75.00 in ODIs and 101.00 in Test.

On his debut in Test, he slammed a double hundred at Lord’s against England who had two of the best Test bowlers — James Anderson and Stuart Broad — in their lineup. While he is yet to shine against spinners, the way he has batted, he has shown he can very well take on India’s pace bowling attack, led by Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma.

Kiwi Pacers in red-hot form: New Zealand made 6 changes to their Playing XI in the 2nd Test against England but that did not seem to matter. Despite resting Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson, New Zealand pacers, led by Trent Boult, blew away England batters.

After returning with 13 wickets in the 1st Test at Lord’s with Tim Southee scalping 6/43, in the 2nd Test, Kiwi pacers have bagged 15 wickets so far at Edgbaston. With New Zealand getting their full pace strength back for the ICC WTC Final, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara and others could have a difficult time.

New Zealand better acclimatised: Almost all the former cricketers have admitted that to play well in England, acclimatisation to the English conditions matters a lot. Kiwis already have familiar conditions at home and arriving almost a month before the ICC WTC Final has helped them acclimatise to England’s windy conditions. Virat Kohli’s men have arrived in England only 15 days before and the first few days went in quarantine, making it difficult for them to get their rhythm back soon.

Confident with competitive match practice: After IPL 2021’s suspension, Kane Williamson & Co has got crucial match practice with two-match Test series against England. If they win the series, which is very likely on Sunday, they will be a confident unit going into the ICC WTC Final.

Virat Kohli’s Team India, on the other hand, has been without any competitive match practice for over a month. Although they are currently playing a 4-day intra-squad practice match in Southampton, it is not the same as playing against local opponents. That could be a problem for Kohli & Co.
