ICC WTC Final: Indian bowlers opens up about Team India’s journey to final, compares World Test Championship with World Cup – Team India is leaving no stone unturned in the build-up to the final of World Test Championship against New Zealand. The side is currently playing an inter-squad practice match at Southampton. Ahead of the final, which will start on June 18, BCCI shared a video of Indian bowlers- R Ashwin, Mohd Shami and Ishant Sharma expressing their thoughts.

BCCI shared a video of R Ashwin, Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami with the caption, “Journey to the #WTC21 Final Preparations to play in England Putting the best foot forward The bowling trio of @ImIshant, @ashwinravi99 & @MdShami11 discuss it all as #TeamIndia gear up for the Final of the ICC WTC. In the video, Ashwin said,” Test cricket is the ultimate form of sports that we have. It is also the greatest test of the cricketers’ ability, metal space everything. So I think, for a long time cricketers wanted this kind of space to give context to Test cricket. Looking forward to the final actually.”

R Ashwin will lead India’s spin attack in the final as he is the most experienced spinner in the squad.

Team India’s most experienced pacer Ishant Sharma said that the World Test Championship final is as good as a World Cup final

While Shami said,” It is very important for us to win the final as it is the first-ever WTC and we want to be the champion.”

Meanwhile, The intra-squad match has begun and it is a closed-door affair. It comes just two days after Team India began practice in Southampton. It will also give the team a much-needed competitive feel before all the important ICC WTC Final against Tim Southee & Co who have already played a Test against hosts England, giving them an edge to acclimatize to the conditions. It will also help KL Rahul, who has been recovering from appendicitis surgery.
