In the photo, one can see a lot of grass left on the pitch and by the looks of it, the surface will be favouring pacers in the initial phase of the game.
Pitch curators often leave grass on the pitch 24 hours before the Test match begin and cut in on the morning of Day 1. Both the teams have some top quality pacers in their lineup and they will try to exploit the pitch.
As soon as Doull posted the tweet cricket fans around the world started reacting to it.
“Black caps will win by an innings mate. Quote me,” a Twitter user wrote.
” If they don’t cut that grass Don’t forget We have team Full of GOATs,” an Indian fan wrote.
“Will your batters be able to negotiate Bumrah et al on that greentop? Ask England what happened when they tried that tactic at Lord’s in 2014,” a cricket enthusiast wrote.
Meanwhile, Former England spinner Monty Panesar posted a weather forecast for Southampton on Monday that shows a 70-80% chance of rain during those days including the reserve day on June 23. As per Weather Channel and AccuWeather, Southampton will see a thunderstorm on June 17 and 18 with 80% chances of rain. There has also been a yellow warning issued for a thunderstorm on both days. Day 2 is expected to be cloudy but with little chance of rain while 1.5 hours of rain. An intermittent shower is predicted for all five days.
