Ind beats Aus at Gabba: 5 game-changing moments which helped India conquer Australia’s Gabba fort

Ind beats Aus at Gabba: 5 game-changing moments of India’s historic win-Ajinkya Rahane’s men scripted history at Brisbane to end a wait of 32 years and two months, after beating Australia by three wickets against all odds in the final Test of the series at The Gabba on Tuesday and take the series 2-1.

The last time a visiting team came out triumphant from the Brisbane Cricket Ground was back in November 1988 when the mighty West Indian outfit under the leadership of Viv Richards thrashed Allan Border’s team by 9 wickets.

What makes the feat even more commendable is how the Indians fought multiple injuries and mental fatigue to register this historic win.

Let’s take a look at 5 game-changing moments as India beat Australia at Gabba
Shubman’s Gill 91 set the stage: The young and dynamic Shubman Gill gave India the platform to build and go for a win after the early setback of Rohit Sharma.
Gill batted patiently in the first session on Day 5, before cutting loose in the second, slamming Mitchell Starc for 6, 4, 4, 4 as he neared a hundred. He was dismissed in the second session by Nathan Lyon but not before he was targeted by the Australian bowlers who bowled short and into his body. However, the young man from Punjab showed conviction in his stroke-play as he backed his skills and played the pull shot with reasonable success.
Cheteshwar Pujara gritty half-century: Pujara gave a sheer testament of his character- an absolute braveheart and a fighter as he remained unfazed against the Aussie quicks after getting hit multiple times on his body and helmet.
Despite taking numerous blows on his body, he played a resilient innings and scored a gritty half-century to propel India towards a win.
Rishabh Pant’s final flourish  Rishabh Pant will be forgiven for all the mistakes he has made through the series with wicket-keeping gloves in hand as each of the 89 runs that he scored in the final hour on Tuesday was worth its weight in gold. It was only poetic justice that he hit a boundary to win India a thriller
The youngster displayed nerves of steel to anchor India towards victory and made sure that India win the match with his hard-hitting abilities towards the end.
Washington Sundar’s crucial cameo: Washington Sundar has delivered the goods both with the willow and the ball and has been an integral cog in India’s historic win. After taking 4 wickets across both the innings, Sundar complemented Rishabh Pant in the middle to take India closer to win.
Sundar played a crucial cameo alongside Pant and hit some quick runs to propel India towards victory.
Mohammed Siraj’s historic spell: One player, without whose contributions the victory wouldn’t have been possible is pacer Mohammed Siraj. He picked up his maiden 5-wicket haul in the last innings of his first-ever Test series as he finished with figures of 5/73 on Day 4 of the 4th Test at the Gabba in Brisbane.

Siraj, in the process, created history to become only the 5th Indian bowler to pick up a 5-wicket haul at the Gabba. He joined an elite list of bowlers Erapalli Prasanna, Bishan Singh Bedi, Madan Lal and Zaheer Khan. Siraj also has the 3rd best figures for an Indian in Brisbane.
