IND ENG 5th Test – Michael Holding accuses BCCI: West Indies legend Michael Holding, who announced retirement from international cricket on Wednesday, has made a big revelation about the last Test between India and England. In a shocking revelation, he accused India of deliberately cancelling the final Test amid BCCI’s ongoing tussle with ECB. The information was revealed by Holding to former India spinner Dilip Doshi, said a report by India Ahead News.

IND ENG 5th Test – Michael Holding accuses BCCI: As per Doshi, the BCCI did not want the Manchester Test to be even part of the series. This is because there was a small gap between the conclusion of last test and resumption of IPL 2021.

“I was speaking to a dear friend of mine Michael Holding earlier today and he mentioned to me that the Indian Cricket board did not want the last Test. So, their original suggestion was that the tour should end after the Oval Test, leaving enough time between IPL and the last Test in England. Giving a gap of 15 days because of the quarantine period in between, but I believe ECB did not want that and they may have insisted on the fifth Test,” Doshi revealed.

Notably, as many as 4 members of the India squad including head coach Ravi Shastri tested positive for COVID-19. The launch event of his book at a London hotel has been identified as the possible source of infection.

IND ENG 5th Test – Michael Holding accuses BCCI, Doshi also make revelations: Doshi further added that he was also available at the launch event where he witnessed that no one was wearing a mask at the event.

“I was present at the book launch. A lot of dignitaries, and Team India was present there for a short while and none of them was wearing a mask. Whether the society has to wear a mask, whether it is mandatory or not is decided by the politicians,” Doshi added.

However, the UK government had relaxed all COVID-19 relaxations ahead of the Test series. Wearing a mask and managing social distance is a personal call in England since the country had opted for an open approach. As a result, the entire Test series between India and England was played with bio-bubble.

The two teams are looking forward to playing the final Test against next year along with the limited-overs series. BCCI has confirmed that it will offer to play extra matches to the ECB to compensate for the financial loss incurred. Virat Kohli & Co are slated to play 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is (including 2 additional T20Is) in July.
