Ind vs Aus 1st ODI: 4 key battles to watch out for in India vs Australia in Sydney

Ind vs Aus 1st ODI: The long wait is finally about to get over as Australia and India take on each other starting Friday in three ODIs. The opening match will be played in Sydney Cricket Ground at 9:10 am IST.

With players from both the sides coming into the competition carrying their recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 form, fans are sure to see intense battles ensue between the 22 yards.

The two sides have played some thrilling competitions in the past and expect this to be no different.

Virat Kohli and Aaron Finch will be aiming to lead their sides to victory on Friday, as they look to set the tone for what will be a long and gruelling series for both teams.

Ahead of the first ODI, let’s take a look at some of the key battles that could decide the contest.

1) KL Rahul vs Marcus Stoinis:

KL Rahul will be the man to watch in series. Coming into the series riding on the back of a spectacular performance in IPL, he will be India’s X-factor in batting. In Rohit Sharma’s absence, the Karnataka batsman is likely to open with Shikhar Dhawan.

Meanwhile, Marcus Stoinis was one of the highlight fo Delhi Capitals (DC) thanks to his all-round performance. Australia will be hoping he can repeat the same performance against India.

2) Virat Kohli vs Adam Zampa:

If there is any bowler outside IPL who has troubled Virat Kohli, it is Adam Zampa. The leg spinner has gotten the better of the India captain time and time again. The Australian opener has dismissed Kohli a record five times in ODI. This match-up will once again be a fiery one when the two come face-to-face on Friday.

3) Jasprit Bumrah vs David Warner

Australia’s biggest hope will be David Warner, who has been in red-hot form in IPL. And this is where Jasprit Bumrah comes in. If he can chip the wicket of the Australian opener’s wicket early, India will be in the driving seat.

4) Shikhar Dhawan vs Mitchell Starc:

Shikhar Dhawan has often been a thorn in Australia’s side, and his contest against Mitch Starc will make for a very interesting battle. The Indian batsman will go hard to provide a good start to his team. However, he has struggled to score against the Aussie pacer, who has dismissed Dhawan thrice in eight ODIs.
