Ind vs Aus 1st Test: When Kohli met Smith for a fascinating chat ahead of Adelaide clash; Watch Video

Ind vs Aus 1st Test- Kohli and Smith candid conversation: What better to sit and watch world’s two best Test batsmen Virat Kohli and Steve Smith sit and talk. For half and hour on Monday afternoon, two living legends Virat Kohli and Steve Smith sat for a fascinating conversation, sharing rare insights into their careers.

The two genius’ discussed their origin stories, what it’s like being in the ‘zone’, and dealing with expectation.

Smith, who was sitting bolt upright in his chair, asked the first question, about where it all began. Kohli explained that he found cricket through their fathers. Kohli’s dad would throw balls for his son to smash with a plastic bat, while Smith’s “old man” did the same post-school hours.

Kohli: “I think the earliest memory I have of playing the game is with my dad chucking balls and me just having a plastic bat and smashing them. That’s very special to me because I have been told since I had any understanding of things and just held a cricket bat and started swinging at balls. So, yea that is my first memory.”

Smith: “I picked up a cricket bat as soon as I could and I just never wanted to put it down. My old man up at the nets, throwing me balls. He used to bowl me every afternoon after school and I just progressed through the ranks.”

Kohli said he always dreamed of donning the Indian shirt and winning games of cricket for his country but it wasn’t until his father, Prem, died when he was 18 that he focused all his energy into his cricket aspirations.
