IND vs AUS 2nd ODI: 3 things Virat Kohli and men should do to save ODI series

Indis vs Australia 2nd ODI: The Indian team has been fined for slow over-rate by International Cricket Council (ICC). This might seem that it is just a penalty, but scratch the surface and there is so much more to it.

It was an embarrassing outing for Virat Kohli and men who suffered a big loss by Aaron Finch’s Australia on Friday in 1st ODI. The next game on Sunday will be a must-win for the visitors, if they wish to save the three-match ODI series. It will not be an easy task for them, given there is no plan ‘B’ in their cupboard. There are several issues which they have to solve.

Here are 3 things they need to do to win on Sunday:

—- Be aggressive:

Virat Kohli and men need to understand that this is not T20, where matches can be won in just one over. This is a 50-over form. In this longer format, consistency and teamwork is key. Barring Hardik Pandya, and Shikhar Dhawan, the entire Indian team, according to captain Kohli, “lacked the intent”.

 —- Fielding woes:

The main reason which allowed Australia to reach a mammoth total of 374 was India’s fielding woes. The visitors dropped four catches including that of Steve Smith, Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell. The trio eventually went on to inspire Australia to score big.

Kohli lamented the dropped chances. “If you don`t take your chances against a top-quality opposition they`ll make you pay,” the Indian skipper said.

—- Lack of all-rounders:

Since, Hardik Pandya has not yet recovered completely from his back injury, he is still not been able to bowl. Due to this, India lacks all-around options as he can only bat now. The only all-rounder the visitors have is Ravindra Jadeja. They will have to find a solution to it, before Sunday.
