Ind vs Aus 3rd Test: Justin Langer declares, ‘David Warner very very likely to play in Sydney’

Ind vs Aus 3rd Test – Big Declaration by Justin Langer about David Warner:  Coach Justin Langer has declared that David Warner won’t be fully fit for the third Test but is “very, very, very likely” to play the Sydney Test against India. Langer also confirmed doctors have also cleared Will Pucovski to play the match.

“He (Warner) looks like he’s moving pretty well. He’s very determined to play … so we’ll finalise him at training this afternoon and make a decision on that,” Langer said.

“But I’d say he’s (Warner) looking very, very, very likely to play the Test match.”

The third Test starts at the SCG on Thursday with the Border-Gavaskar series tied 1-1.

India vs Australia 3rd Test: Langer states Will Pucovski also cleared by doctors

Langer also confirmed doctors have also cleared Will Pucovski to play the match.  Langer told reporters that selectors are likely to settle on Australia’s XI after the session, with Warner almost a certainty to return while Pucovski will be strongly considered after being cleared by an independent neurologist on Monday to play.

Nonetheless, the Australia coach said there is no concern in rushing him back into the team amid the side’s batting woes against India.

“The real heartening thing for him is that while he’s had a few concussion in the past … it’s not necessarily going to have any long-term impact on him,” Langer said. “And I think when you can put your mind at rest with that then that’s a real positive for him.

“He’s in a great frame of mind, he’s incredibly positive about playing cricket, he’s trained hard this week and, as he and I have discussed a number of times, the only way to get back on the horse is to get back on the horse.

“He’s ultimately the one who has to make the decision. He has to have the courage to get back on the horse and he wants to do that, and that’s a really, really positive sign moving forward.”
