Ind vs Aus 4th Test: With Natarajan &  Washington Sundar’s debut, India for the first time has used 20 players in a series in 60 years

Ind vs Aus 4th Test: For the first time, India has used 20 players in a series since 1961/62 series. India has been injury-hit and had to use its bench strength to play the Brisbane test against Australia. In the fourth and final test, the visitors handed the Test debut cap to Washington Sundar and T Natarajan.

Interestingly, it is also the first time the Men in Blue have played over 17 players in an away series. The other time they have used 17 players was in England in 2018, in Australia in 2104/15 and in England in 1959.

Also, the last time India had five or more debutants in a series was against England in 1996. The players who made their debut were Sunil Joshi, Pharas Mhambrey, Venkatesh Prasad, Vikram Rathour, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly.

Ind vs Aus 4th Test: T Natarajan makes a unique history

The Indian pacer Natarajan was handed his Test cap on Friday making him the 300th players for India, thus making him the first Indian player to make his ODI, T20 and Test debut in the same tour.

Notably, it has been a tour to remember for Natarajan as earlier he made his ODI and T20I debut in Australia. Owing to his IPL 2020 performance, the Tamil Nadu pacer was first included in the shortest format squad and later on added as back-up in the ODI side by the BCCI.
