Ind vs Aus Test Series: Prithvi Shaw very upset with criticism, writes cryptic message for critics

Ind vs Aus Test Series:In a cryptic post, Indian opener Prithvi Shaw gave a strong answer to his critics after his string of poor performances and having a forgettable year in cricket.

The young right-hander has scored a total of just 98 runs in his 4 innings in New Zealand this year. Even in the tour games preceding the 4-match Test series between India and Australia, Shaw managed to score just 62 in 4 innings at an average of just 15.5.

He was, however, picked to play in the 1st Test in Adelaide and as it turns out, Shaw failed to make a significant contribution once again. Needless to say, a lot of criticisms have followed his way. The 21-year-old batsman has, hence, posted a message on Instagram and it’s clear what he meant by it.

“If sometimes people demotivate you for something you try to do, that means you can do that but they can’t,” Shaw posted.

Shaw has been at the end of constant criticism from fans and pundits alike after he scored a 0 and 4 in the recently concluded Pink Ball Test. Both times Shaw was bowled through the gate by Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, respectively.

Former cricketers highlight the reason behind Shaw’s poor show

“The first point I’m gonna make is that Prithvi Shaw is not the one that has failed here, the selectors have failed. Because he shouldn’t have been picked, to begin with, knowing that he is coming into this Test series out of form and also with the technical flaws that have been exposed after a dozen balls. So, to me, he was set up the fail in a way,” Moody told EspnCricinfo.

Yet, even Moody suggested that Shubman Gill, and not Shaw, should’ve been picked by India.

“To me, Shubman Gill should’ve been the person that played to begin with. His technique is a lot more watertight and he’s shown that he has got wonderful temperament,” Moody added.

Even former India cricketer Zaheer Khan had said that it would be difficult for Shaw to make it to the playing XI of the 2nd Test.

“I completely agree with you that he might be missing in this (next) Test match. I mean the remaining of the series looks like it’s going to be difficult for him [Shaw] to make his spot. There was some speculation that he might not be starting the series. These kinds of total and that dropped catch,” Zaheer said.
