Ind vs Eng 1st Test: Joe Root becoming India’s thorn, hits match-defining century at Nottingham – England captain Joe Root, who loves batting against Team India, is once again troubling Virat Kohli’s side in the first Test at Trent Bridge, Nottingham by hitting a match-defining century on Day 4. Root is the top scorer for England in the last 35 matches against India. Root scored his 21st Test century out of which 6 came against India.

Root has always performed against India in Test cricket. He has played 21 matches against Team India in which he has scored 1924 at an average of 56.58 with 5 hundred and 11 centuries. He also completed his 1000 runs in 2021 in the longest format of the game. 

Ind vs Eng 1st Test: With this innings, he also became batsman to take 2nd fewest days to score 1000 Test runs in a calendar year for England. Root is the first England captain to score 50+ runs in both innings at Nottingham

Ind vs Eng 1st Test: Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah might have removed Rory Burns and Zak Crawley in the first session, but Joe Root and Dominic Sibley ensured that England does not fall behind India on Day Four of the ongoing first Test here at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on Saturday.

At the lunch break, England’s score reads 119/2 with Root (56*) and Sibley (27*) unbeaten at the crease. The hosts are currently leading by 24 runs.

Ind vs Eng 1st Test: Resuming Day 4 at 25/0, England did not get off to an ideal start as Rory Burns (18) ended up losing his wicket to Mohammed Siraj in just the fifth over of the day and this brought Zak Crawley to the middle. However, Crawley’s (6) stay at the crease proved to be a short one as he was removed by Jasprit Bumrah and England was reduced to 46/2.
