Furthermore, the England skipper is now 2nd fastest batsman to score 2,000 runs against India. Joe Root has scored 2,000 runs in only 39 innings. He is only behind Pakistan’s Javed Miandad who took 35 innings to achieve the record. In terms of total runs tally against India, Joe Root is currently at 7th behind former Australia captain Michael Clarke who scored 2049 runs. For England, he is currently the 2nd highest scorer in Test cricket against India behind Alastair Cook, who scored 2,431 runs against India.

Notably, the right-handed batsman needs a couple of tons to equal Kevin Pietersen’s tally of 23 tons in Test cricket.

The England batsman is in phenomenal form. He has slammed a century and fifty in the opening Test at Nottingham. He has slammed 21 centuries and 50 fifties in his Test career. The 30-year-old will be now looking to cross 9000 runs in Test cricket.
