Ind vs Eng 2nd Test: R Ashwin makes Ben Stokes his bunny, dismisses him for record 10th time in Tests- India’s ace-spinner R Ashwin on Tuesday equalled his previous record In Tests by dismissing ‘his bunny’ Ben Stokes for 10th time. Stokes was caught out to Virat Kohli off R Ashwin’s delivery in England’s second innings. The England all-rounder was earlier bowled out by Ashwin in the first innings. Stokes’ dismissal was Ashwin’s 30th wicket at Chepauk, Chennai in Tests- the joint-most number of wickets he has taken in any venue in Tests alongside Wankhede, Mumbai.

Ravichandran Ashwin has now dismissed Ben Stokes 10 times in Tests – the joint-most times he has dismissed any batsman alongside David Warner,” tweeted cricket statistician Umang Pabari.

Batsmen Ashwin has dismissed most in Tests:

BEN STOKES 10

David Warner 10

Alastair Cook 9

Ed Cowan 7

James Anderson 7

Note: All the above batsmen are Left-handers.

Stokes has got out to off-spin for record 17th time in 29 innings in Asia, eight of those are against Ashwin.

The 34-year-old has earlier slammed a Test century, his fifth in Tests, after a gap of three and a half year. The extraordinary display with the bat by Ashwin at his home ground helped India recover from early losses in their second innings. His 106 runs contribution helped India set a target of 481 runs for England to chase in fourth innings.

Ashwin is only six wickets away to become fourth Indian bowler to scalp 400 wickets in Tests. Only Anil Kumble(619), Harbhajan Singh (317) and Kapil Dev (334) have achieved the above feat.

The opposition were struggling at 116/7 at Lunch on Day 3. India require only three wickets to level the series 1-1. Win the win, India can keep their hopes alive of making it into the final of the ICC Test Championship final against New Zealand at Lord’s, London later this year.
