Ind vs Eng 3rd T20: In a shocking turn of events, Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) has decided to organise the remaining T20 international matches between India and England at Narendra Modi Stadium behind closed doors. GCA cited the increase in COVID-19 cases for this unprecedented step.
The GCA will refund the money to the spectators, who have purchased the tickets for T20Is scheduled on March 16, March 18 and March 20, 2021.
“Due to rise in the number of Corona cases, we at GCA have decided in consultation with BCCI, the matches will be played closed door and not allow the spectators in the ground during T20 Internationals to be played between India and England at Ahmedabad. We will form the policy for the refund of money to the spectators, who have already purchased the tickets for these three T20’s. Those who have received complimentary tickets are requested not to visit the stadium,” said Shri Dhanraj Nathwani, Vice President, Gujarat Cricket Association.
Ind vs Eng 3rd T20: Violation of social distancing during Ind vs Eng 2nd T20
Earlier, during the second T20 fans did not adhere to government guideline to minimise the risk of COVID-19. As per the rules, only 50 per cent of crowd is to be allowed to attend the outdoor sporting event, keeping social distancing in mind.
However, the crowd violated the social distancing protocols as several flocks of fans were seen in close proximity withe each other.
Many fans were also seen without their masks, thus risking themselves amidst the coronavirus crisis. To make things worse, 710 new cases were recorded in Gujarat on the same day, thus opening up fears of a steady increase of positive cases in the coming days.
Ind vs Eng 3rd T20 will be played on Tuesday. Both the teams are currently level at 1-1. The fourth and fifth T20Is are scheduled for 18 and 20 March.
