Ind vs Eng, 4th Test: India skipper Virat Kohli on Thursday added another feather to his cap by becoming the only captain to lead India in 10 or more Tests in a country outside India. IND vs ENG 4th Test: Still no place for Ravi Ashwin in India’s playing squad, Virat Kohli continues with ‘4+1’ template

Ind vs Eng, 4th Test: Kohli will now look to make amendments with the bat and end his century drought. The 32-year-old managed to score a fifty in the third Test but failed to convert it into a century. He has crossed 50+ innings without a century across all formats. He had scored his last ton against Bangladesh on November 22, 2019. It has been 650 days since he brought his international century. Kohli has been facing off problems against the likes of James Anderson and Ollie Robinson in the ongoing Test series.

Notably, Kohli has been dismissed twice to James Anderson and Ollie Robinson. The India skipper has managed just 124 runs in three Test matches. Clearly, Kohli is having a terrible time in the English conditions in the ongoing England tour. He has edged the outside off stump ball for 5th time in the series and has been dismissed in a similar fashion during all of his outings. It is evident that Kohli is all exposed to the seamers now. A genuine fast bowler targets the outside off spot, tames Kohli, makes him feel terrible and finally outplays him.

Ind vs Eng, 4th Test: He needs to quickly find solutions to play against Anderson and Robinson if India wants to stage a comeback after losing the third test by innings and 76 runs.

Speaking at the toss, India skipper Virat Kohli said: “We would have bowled first as well but toss isn’t something you can control. Need to be prepared for either. We’re looking forward to putting runs on the board. Two changes — Ishant and Shami have niggles — Umesh and Shardul are back. For us, it’s about partnerships, we can’t focus too much on individuals. The opening partnerships have been good, it’s about getting more partnerships. We got a few days left on this tour, the series is poised nicely and there is going to be no shortage of effort from our side.”

England brought in all-rounder Chris Woakes and middle-order batsman Ollie Pope.

Playing XI:

England: Rory Burns, Haseeb Hameed, Dawid Malan, Joe Root(c), Ollie Pope, Jonny Bairstow(w), Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Craig Overton, Ollie Robinson, James Anderson.

India: Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli(c), Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant(w), Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj.
