Ind vs Eng 4th Test: Why Rishabh Pant calls Axar Patel ‘Wasim Bhai’? check out- Axar Patel is having the time of his life with back to back match-winning performances. The left-arm spinner has outfoxed the England batsmen, picking up 18 wickets in his first two Tests. Axar created a plethora of records in the third Test picking up his third consecutive five-wicket haul and 11 wickets in the match.
Following his 9 wickets via LBW and bowled, Axar has got a new nickname from teammates Rishabh Pant and Ajinkya Rahane. The allrounder said that Pant believes his arm-ball tails into the right-handed-batsmen like Pakistan legend Wasim Akram’s inswingers. Thus Rishabh has given him a new nickname ‘Wasim Bhai’.
“He (Rishabh Pant) keeps on saying that by arm-ball comes into the right-hander like Wasim bhai (Wasim Akram). The name was given by Ajju bhai (Ajinkya Rahane) and Pant picked it up from there,” said Axar.
Speaking about his excellent start to Test career, the Gujrat-based cricketer said that he would like to continue to work hard. Axar Patel will once again be one of Virat Kohli’s armoury in the fourth Test against England in Ahmedabad.
Meanwhile, England captain Joe Root has said that the English batsmen had not underestimated Axar Patel in the previous two Tests.
“I definitely don’t think we underestimate him (Axar). I think that he’s exploited the surface very well. He’s managed to beat both edges of the bat, which for any spinner is exactly what you’re looking for all the time,” said Root, praising the left-armer.
