IND vs ENG 5th Test: Sunil Gavaskar wants Jasprit Bumrah at Old Trafford – In all likelihood, Jasprit Bumrah is all set to be rested for the Old Trafford Test owing to workload management. The series finale will decide the fate of the ongoing India vs England series which Virat Kohli & Co lead 2-1. But batting legend and former India captain Sunil Gavaskar wants Bumrah to play the match irrespective of his workload as he believes the pacer will be the deciding factor in the series.

Jasprit Bumrah’s 6-3-6-2 spell after lunch on Day 5 at Oval dealt a blow to England’s hopes as his two wickets including Jonny Bairstow and Ollie Pope triggered a collapse. Riding on his spell, India thrashed England by 151 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series.

“I think in my view, you’re still playing for India and the series is yet to be won. If you are 2-0 up, then rest Bumrah, but we still haven’t won the series so Bumrah has to play,” Sunil Gavaskar told Sony Sports Network.

IND vs ENG 5th Test: However, as Jasprit Bumrah has already bowled 151 overs in the series, the highest amongst Indians, to manage his workload, he is likely to be rested considering the IPL 2021 and T20 World Cup in mind. The pacer has been injury-prone and Virat Kohli & Co can’t afford to lose him before the all-important T20 World Cup.

Skipper Virat Kohli had already hinted at the shuffling of India’s pacers resting Mohammed Shami for the Oval Test. Next in line is Jasprit Bumrah and he is expected to be rested even though the series is on the line. But Bumrah said he is ready to play the full series even though he has bowled 151 overs, third-highest amongst all bowlers in the series.

“I work hard in the gym, work hard with my diet and everything I try to control. So, all of these things give me confidence.
