Ind vs Eng: Cheteshwar Pujara overcomes massive injury scare, slams fifty at Oval- India’s batting mainstay Cheteshwar Pujara on Saturday showed tremendous grit and class to slam fifty against England at Oval. The Indian batsman had apparently twisted his ankle while running between the wickets during the 45th over. Pujara looked in some discomfort and undertook medical attention for some time before returning to his feet. The 33-year-old slammed his 33rd Test fifty. “Cheteshwar Pujara rolls his ankle over. After receiving treatment, he is back on his feet and continues to bat,” BCCI said in a tweet post.

He had struggled on a number of occasions in the ongoing series before returning to form with 91 runs after a crucial partnership with Ajinkya Rahane at Lord’s. The right-handed batsman continued his stellar form with a timely fifty after missing out on the first innings. He was scintillating in the backfoot as

Pujara has now become the fourth-highest run-scorer in the ongoing series with 200+ runs. He has joined Joe Root, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma on the special list. He proved to his critics ‘form is temporary and class is permanent’. His contribution helped India win the Lord’s Test and now he will look to aid India in taking a 2-1 lead against England after 4th Test.
