IND vs ENG: 5 unforgettable moments of India vs England series – The five-match series might have ended abruptly after Virat Kohli & Co refused to take the field on Friday at Old Trafford in the 5th Test owing to the Covid-19 outbreak in the team, there have been moments to cherish for both. If Rohit Sharma’s first Test hundred outside India gave India the win at Oval, Jasprit Bumrah’s fiery spell at Oval and India’s win at Lord’s were the takeaways of the series.

Although the abrupt end to the series will always be the focal point that India dominated the most part of the series in England and led 2-1 after four matches will be one of many positives. Even though India’s middle-order struggled, India’s two openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma didn’t surrender to the likes of James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Ollie Robinson. Instead, they took the fight.

India’s win at Lord’s: No matter the result of the series, winning at Lord’s — the mecca of world cricket — is always special and Virat Kohli & Co did that with a thumping victory. Almost out of the game, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah — two unlikely batting heroes — taught the batters a lesson on how to play under pressure. Their 89-run stand made the difference. With the ball, Indian pacers hunted in packs and eked out a 151-run victory on Day 5.

India’s win at Oval after 50 years: India’s other win of the series at Oval was special too. It was after a long 50 years that India managed to win at Oval. It was back in 1971 when BS Chandrasekhar’s 6/38 crippled England 2nd innings and India chased down 173 to win at Oval for the first time. In between India have drawn five and lost the last three of them with huge margins. But Virat Kohli & Co subdued the conditions and managed to turn around despite posting just 191 in the first innings. In the end, Jasprit Bumrah’s magical spell after lunch and Umesh Yadav’s 3/60 handed India a 157-run victory.

Rohit Sharma’s century: While KL Rahul also etched his name at Lord’s centurion board, Rohit Sharma’s 127 at Oval was special on many grounds. By 2019, Rohit Sharma was written off in Test cricket but his decision to open in Test despite the fact that he is one of the stroke makers and hadn’t found success in England had no impact on his batting at Oval. His 127 off 256 balls in the second innings led India’s fightback and helped India set a 368 target for England. It was his first Test century outside England and with that he had a big monkey off his back.

Jasprit Bumrah 6-3-6-2 spell: The 6-3-6-2 figure may resemble a tennis score but it was just an example of Jasprit Bumrah’s brilliance. Resuming at 131/2, Haseeb Hameed and Joe Root faced Jasprit Bumrah’s wrath at Oval. After Jadeja sent Hameed back, in an excellent spell of reverse swing bowling six overs, Jasprit Bumrah cleaned up Ollie Pope and Jonny Bairstow, breaking England’s backbone as the hosts lost the next eight wickets for just 79 runs and India won the match by 157 runs.
