Inzamam-ul-Haq says India have set up some sort of machine to manufacture new players- Pakistan Cricket Legend Inzamam-ul-Haq feels that India have some sort to machine to manufacture new players for every format. The statement comes after India witnessed a key performance by debutants Prasidh Krishna and Krunal Pandya in the opening ODI. While Prasidh Krishna took 4 wickets on his debut, Krunal Pandya’s 31-ball 58 helped India post 300+ total.
“I think India have set up some sort of machine to manufacture new players. This gives a clear signal to the senior cricketers that you have to perform well to stay in the side,” Inzamam said in his YouTube channel.
“The difference that happened in the match was because of KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya. That was the turning point. If India had scored 270-280 then England would have chased it but that 30 runs difference came in the total because of Krunal Pandya, who scored 58 off 31 balls. That’s why I’m saying that there’s a machine in India now,” Inzamam stressed.
Speaking about Krishna, Inzamam said, “When India needed wickets, this young boy Krishna, who was playing his first match picked up four wickets. Again, I’d say that India have found a machine to produce players for every format.”
Inzamam said that he is noticing the match-winning trend by India youngsters since the Border-Gavaskar series in Australia.
“I’m noticing since the Australia series that in every match or format, a youngster turns up and gives outstanding performance. Seniors have their role but when juniors perform like this then it speaks a lot about the side. India’s performance has been this good in the last six months because of their youngsters,” he added.
The former Pakistan skipper was also impressed at Shikhar Dhawan’s 98 off 106 deliveries.
Inzamam believes that World No.1 and Current World Champions England are expected to bounce back in the remaining matches. He said England had the perfect start with Jonny Bairstow scoring 94 runs. The Pakistan skipper feels that Engalnd’s lower order might come good in the upcoming matches. He said it will be interesting to see the remaining matches.
The 2nd T20I between the two teams will be held at the same venue on March 26. Virat Kohli-led India will try to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ODIs while England will be aiming to avoid consecutive third series loss to India.
In the last six months, key youngsters Shubman Gill, Axar Patel, SuryaKumar Yadav, Krunal Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Navdeep Saini, Washington Sundar, Prasidh Krishna and T Natarajan have left their mark in the series.
While Ishan Kishan and SuryaKumar Yadav scored fifties in their maiden T20Is, Prasidh Krishna and Krunal Pandya grabbed the opportunity in ODIs with both hands.
