IND vs ENG Live: Top-order collapse at The Oval – Rohit, Rahul & Pujara’s flop show puts India in trouble- Team India’s inconsistent top order of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara has once again failed to provide India with a solid start as England reduced India to 39-3. Inside first 20 overs in the opening session of the fourth Test of the five-match series at the Kennington Oval on Thursday.

Englan captain Joe Root won the toss and opted to bat first — Rohit and Rahul — mixed caution with aggression and the duo saw out the opening spells of James Anderson and Ollie Robinson. However, the introduction of Chris Woakes paid off straight away as he dismissed Rohit (11), ending the 28-run opening stand.

Pujara next joined Rahul in the middle and the duo found the going tough and they did not score a single run for almost five overs, and this eventually brought about a wicket, as Rahul (17) was trapped in front by Ollie Robinson, reducing India to 28/2.

Pujara (4) also failed to leave a mark with the bat as he chased a wide delivery and his wicket was grabbed by James Anderson, reducing India to 39/3 in the 20th over.

In the ongoing fourth Test, James Anderson got rid of India’s No.3 as the latter could only make 4 runs during his short stay at Oval. He ended up edging an outside off delivery to wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow. It’s the third time that the Indian batsman got out to Anderson in the ongoing Test series. Anderson on Thursday took the wicket of Pujara for record 11th instance in Test cricket. He overtook Australia spinner Nathan Lyon who has dismissed Pujara 10 times.
