IND v ENG 1st Test: VVS Laxman, Wasim Jaffer and other cricket biggies praise Joe Root’s fine century in 100th Test in Chennai: England skipper Joe Root scored a fine century on the first day of the opening Test against India at the Chepauk stadium on Friday (February 5). The visitors decided had opted to bat on a seemingly batting-friendly pitch. Root walked in after Rory Burns and Dan Lawrence departed cheaply. The right-hander who lead England to a 2-0 series win in Sri Lanka with scores 228 and 186 in January, slammed a classy ton to put England in a dominant position. He is the 9th batsman and fifth captain to score a hundred in hundredth test. For his stunning display with the bat, Joe Root received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
