IND vs SL: Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan opens up on his love for animals, says ‘feels blissful riding horse:’ India tour of Sri Lanka: Indian skipper for the Sri Lankan tour Shikhar Dhawan expressed his innate love for animals which sprouted from his childhood days. In a recent interaction with Star Sports program ‘Follow the Blues,’ India’s opening batsman highlighted his most loved off-field activity. Currently, Dhawan is on India tour of Sri Lanka for the limited-over series against the island country.

The video posted by Star Sports captioned, “#TeamIndia’s Gabbar’s plan for the future, his love for animals & more – @SDhawan25 is revealing it all on #FollowTheBlues! Catch him in conversation – today, 2:30 PM, 5 PM & 6:30 PM.”

The 50-second small clip revealed his love for animals since childhood. ‘My love for horses began right from childhood. All the residents from our block used to go to Vaishno Devi every year. Whenever I used to go to Vaishno Devi, I had this natural interest to have a horse ride.

Going forward, probably post the retirement from cricket, Dhawan wishes to have a farmhouse where he can be in close liaison with animals. ‘So, the love for animals especially horses has stayed within me since then. My aim is to stay in my farm, have and raise up horses. I am sure that this wish of mine will get fulfilled. I have this innate love for animals, to love them and be in their company. I love riding the horse, it’s blissful!

IND vs SL: Shikhar Dhawan’s performance in Sri Lanka

Shikhar Dhawan’s captaincy career flagged off in flying colours as team India sealed the ODI series with a 2-1 win against Sri Lanka. The two sides are yet to play the 3-match T20I series starting from July 25.

The 35-year old played the skipper’s knock in the first ODI where his unbeaten 86 cruised India to a victory. In the three matches, he mustered  128 runs in total and averaged 64.
