With Virat Kohli led Test team in England, Shikhar Dhawan & Co’s white-ball specialists assembled in Mumbai for a 10-day quarantine. From there, the team landed in Colombo on June 28 and underwent mandatory 3-day quarantine.

- After a 44-day break post-IPL 2021 suspension, Dhawan & Co assembled in Mumbai on June 15 for a 10-day quarantine cum bio-bubble.
- The team reached Colombo on June 28 and underwent three days of mandatory quarantine.
- After quarantine, they played two intra-squad practice games before the originally scheduled 1st ODI on July 13.
- After the series was postponed, the team had to spend few more days hitting the nets for intense sessions under the watchful eyes of Rahul Dravid.
- Ahead of the July 18’s 1st ODI, the team had a training session under the lights as the ODI and T20I series will be day/night affair.
On the other hand, Dasun Shanaka led Sri Lanka are match-ready having played Bangladesh twice (home & away) and England (away) consecutively. While Sri Lanka are banking on match-readiness, Shikhar Dhawan & Co will be looking at the team’s quality to ace the opponent.
With the quality the team has with players like Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya, Manish Pandey, Suryakumar Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav besides Bhuvneshwar Kumar and others, India are clear favourites even though they are without a competitive match for the last 77 days.
