IND vs SL: Prithvi Shaw disappoints on T20I debut, fails to impress ahead of England departure – India opening batsman Prithvi Shaw failed to give India a good start in his debut match against Sri Lanka in the first T20I as he was dismissed on a golden duck on the very first ball of the innings. This was the first instance of an Indian batsman getting out on the first ball of a T20I. Shaw also became the 2nd Indian batsman to get out on a golden duck in the debut match, earlier KL Rahul got out on zero in his debut match in 2016.

A beautiful outswinger by Sri Lanka pacer Dushmantha Chameera sents back Shaw on the very first ball of the innings. Shaw just couldn’t resist, to chase the ball with hard hands which send a flying edge to the right of the keeper. He started walking even before the bowler could reach the keeper to appeal.

There was a clear lack of feet moment in Shaw’s batting. He is expected to travel to England after the T20I series where he will have to face bowlers like James Anderson and Stuart Broad who swings the red ball both ways. It is going to be a tough task for him to tackle one of the best bowling attacks in swinging conditions of England.
