The ICC Under-19 World Cup final between India and Australia has attracted more than three crore viewers on Star Sports. The Broadcast Audience Research Council data for week six (February 3-9, 2018) shows that the Under-19 World Cup final on February 3, won by Prithvi Shaw-led Indian Colts, has attracted 3.3 crore television viewers in India.
The Indian Colts had thrashed Australia by eight wickets for a record fourth ICC under-19 World Cup crown.
Meanwhile, the second and third one-day internationals in the ongoing South Africa-India series have dominated the sports genre ratings on Indian television for the week. The live broadcast of the two one-dayers has grabbed all the positions in the BARC top five sports genre programmes.
The third one-dayer on February 7, dominated by Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 160, has been the top show of the week on all the three platforms it was broadcast. The live telecast of the match on Sony Ten 3, with 6,441,000 impressions, has been the number one sports show of the week, followed by its simulcast on Doordarshan Sport (6,263,000) and Sony Ten 1 (6,247,000) respectively.
The second one-dayer on Sony Ten 1 and Sony Ten 3 has been in the fourth and the fifth positions with 4,899,000 and 4,417,000 impressions respectively.
India’s domination over Proteas has also enabled Sony Ten 1 (240,953,000 impressions), Sony Ten 3 (174,302,000) and Doordarshan Sport (174,302,000) hold the top three slots.
The Under-19 World Cup final broadcast has helped Star Sports 1 Hindi (74,609,000) hold on to the fourth position in the BARC rating for the week, to be followed by the free to air Star Sport First.
