India gets tough Fifa U-17 WC draw

India are faced against USA, Colombia and Ghana in what can be termed as a tough draw for the hosts.

In the FIFA U-17 Football World Cup Draw in Mumbai 24 teams were placed in six groups. India was placed in Group A alongside the USA, Ghana and Colombia. The hosts will start their campaign against the USA on October 6 in New Delhi in the first tie of the tournament.

India expectedly got the A1 position in Group A being the hosts. The three other teams joining India in Group A are the USA, Ghana and Colombia. The hosts play all their in New Delhi.

Former Argentina midfielder Esteban Cambiasso and Nigerian forward Nwankwo Kanu along with Indian skipper Sunil Chhetri and country’s top-ranked badminton player PV Sindhu were present at the official draw.

Group A: India, USA, Colombia and Ghana.
Group B: Paraguay, Mali, New Zealand, Turkey
Group C: Iran, Guinea, Germany and Costa Rica
Group D: DPR Korea, Niger, Brazil, Spain
Group E: Honduras, Japan, New Caledonia, France
Group F: Iraq, Mexico, Chile, England

The tournament’s official song Kar Ke Dikhla De Goal was presented during the draw ceremony by Pritam and Babul Supriyo. It was the first occasion the song has been revealed.

Sunil Gulati, FIFA Council member; All India Football Federation prsident Praful Patel and Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel were among the key personnel present at the draw ceremony.
