India tour of Australia : Crowd set to attend MCG Boxing Day Test – Cricket Australia

Good news is coming in from Australia as India is gearing up to tour Australia. A crowd at the MCG for the Boxing Day Test has been all but guaranteed by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews as the state’s coronavirus restrictions were significantly eased.

After more than four months of a hard lockdown, Melbourne will start to reopen after no COVID19 cases were recorded in Victoria on Monday.

Cricket Australia is believed to be very close to locking in its international schedule for this summer, which is highlighted by a blockbuster four-Test series against India.

India tour of Australia : Meanwhile Selection committee meeting today, Surya likely to get in, question mark over Hardik

Meanwhile back in India, the selection committee meeting to select Indian team for tour of Australia is finally happening today. Sunil Joshi led selection committee will meet virtually to pick Indian team for 3T20, 3odi’s and 4 match test series. Due to Covid-19 protocols and travel limitations, the selectors will pick a jumbo-sized contingent consisting of red-ball and white-ball specialists along with potential replacements. The size of the squad could exceed 30 and it is expected that a contingent of over 50 members will board the flight in Dubai for Australia on November 12.

India tour of Australia : Hardik Pandya doubtful for tour ?

Hardik Pandya as reported earlier by InsideSport will be the biggest talking point in the selection committee meeting. Hardik hasn’t bowled in IPL. It is being reported that Pandya has been bowling in the nets with a re-modelled action.

However, if he isn’t available to bowl on the Australia tour, Pandya is likely to be ignored for the 50-over and Test side. For lack of options, Vijay Shankar, who has done well in the last few games in the IPL, and Shivam Dube may make it to the limited overs teams.

Injuries big concern for the selectors as they pick team for Australia tour

The major issue before the selectors will be the fitness of the players. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma are already out of IPL 2020 due to injuries and is likely to stay out of Australia tour as well.

Now another big concern is injury to Rohit Sharma. Mumbai Indians captain has already missed out on two IPL games due to recurring hamstring injury and his fitness will be of key concern to the selectors.

India tour of Australia : Jumbo Team to be picked today

Amid all injuries and concerns, their is likely to be cheer for Mumbai Indians SuryaKumar Yadav. He will finally get a look in the limited overs squad after performing consistently over the years. Good news will also knock the doors of Mohammad Siraj who has bowled his heart out for RCB in ongoing IPL. Siraj is likely to be picked for all 3 squads. The selectors are likely to try out his other India ‘A’ teammates such as Sandeep Warrier & Ishan Porel or Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti, in place of the injured pacers.

For wicketkeeping role in all 3 squads – KL Rahul & Rishabh Pant will be the first and second choice of selectors. For the third wicketkeeper in the squad it will be toss up between Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan.
