India tour of England: BCCI says NO to additions despite COVID-19 cases- Despite Rishabh Pant testing positive for COVID-19 and Wriddhiman Saha isolating after coming in contact with throwdown specialist Dayanand Garani (who has also tested positive), BCCI has decided not to send any player from India. “No,” said a top BCCI official when asked if any additional player would be sent to England, reported Indian Express.

When he/she was questioned whether Abhimanyu Easwaran will get a chance, the official said, “This is a call to be taken by the selectors and the team management. The BCCI doesn’t interfere in selection matters.”

The two players and support staffs will undergo 10-day isolation and will remain in their respective rooms in the team hotel in London.

The selection committee had picked a 20-member squad for the five-match Test series in England, keeping in mind the COVID-19 situation.

Notably, India is still on red list due COVID-19 surge which means anyone from India who travels to UK will have to undergo mandatory 14 days quarantine.

The players along with their families were on a 20 days break before rejoining the bubble on Thursday.

Team India will begin their preparations for the upcoming five-match Test series against England with a three-day warm-up game at Emirates Riverside against County XI starting on Tuesday.
