India tour of England: From Jos Buttler to Ben Stokes, IPL players return to Test cricket as England name 17-member squad – England Cricket Board has announced its 17 member squad for the first two matches of the upcoming Test series against India starting from August 4. Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow and Sam Curran along with Ben Stokes made comeback into the side while Jofra Archer and Chris Wokes have been ruled out due to injury.

Jos Buttler

Rajasthan Royals Jos Buttler will be there in England’s squad for the Test series against India. In IPL 2021 Buttler scored his first-ever T20 century. Buttler is in the top-notch form in Test cricket as well, the right-hand batsman has scored 185 runs in three games in 2021. He is averaging 46.25 with one fifty in it. Buttler is the kind of player that can turn the Test match on its head in just one session. He will play a very crucial role in the series.

Ben Stokes

Recovering from the figure injury he suffered during IPL 2021 playing for Rajasthan Royals, Ben Stokes made a comeback into the international side and was made captain of the team against Pakistan. He led the team to a 3-0 win against Pakistan in the ODI series. Ben will aim to continue his good form against India in the five-match Test series. In the year 2021, he has played 4 Test matches in which the left-hand batsman has scored 203 runs. With his right-arm medium-pace bowling he has taken 8 wickets in these matches.

Jonny Bairstow

In IPL 2021, Jonny Bairstow scored 248 runs in seven games with the help of two fifties. Now as he makes comeback into the national side, he will aim to continue his T20 form into Test cricket. The wicket-keeper batsman has scored just 167 runs in four Tests in 2021. He is averaging just 23.85 this year. Bairstow’s average against India in Test is 28.13, he will look to better it this time.

Sam Curran

Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Sam Curran played some beautiful knocks the last time India toured England. With his left-arm pace bowling, he troubled many Indian batters. He is in very good form as he had picked 9 wickets for CSK in seven games this year. In his small Test career of just 21 matches, Curran has scored 272 runs and taken 11 wickets against India. He will aim to continue his purple patch against India in the upcoming matches.
